'I'm one of a handful of neon artists who blows his own glass,' Flechtner said. 'You're dealing with a substance that's 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. And with neon, you're adding high voltage, high vacuum and gases.' Flechtner's exhibit, 'This is Not a Neon Sign' will be on display with two other exhibits at CSU Channel Islands (CI) beginning Nov. 9 and running through Dec. 4.
